
The Free Historic Merrimac Ferry is CLOSED for the season! The 'Colsac III' crosses the beautiful Lake Wisconsin connecting Columbia County to the town of Merrimac in Sauk County, 24-hours a day, 7 days a week. The Ferry Hot line is 608-246-3806, and can be seen at the Wisconsin DOT website. Tell them we can keep the Ferry & have a Bridge. Vehicles are limited to 16 ton with a single rear axle, and the crossing takes about 7 minutes. When the Sign for the Ferry has its Lights Flashing = the Ferry is closed. Usually the ferry opens in March and stays open until the River freezes.
